Forging Unity within Diversity: A Discourse-Theoretical Approach to Nation-Building Politics in the Chinese and Taiwanese Contexts

This article presents a theoretical framework on discursive nation-building processes in the Chinese and Taiwanese contexts by drawing key notions discourse-theoretical account about identity construction, hegemonic articulation myth-building, as proposed prominent scholars of Discourse Theory, like Ernesto Laclau Chantal Mouffe (1985). The is based existing literature well findings from two case studies discourses belonging to different epochs history: (1) media narratives 1997 Hong Kong handover, published between mid-June mid-July (2) Lectures Nationalism, presented 1924 dr. Sun Yat-sen, an early proponent nationalism.
